Featuring markets, golf days, pizza nights, model tank-making and much more, Veterans’ Health Week 2023 is not to be missed.

Veterans’ Health Week is an annual Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) initiative, and this year’s theme – Mental Wellness Matters – is all about promoting good mental health among veterans and their families.

Running from 8-15 October (with activities taking place from 24 September to 29 October), Veterans’ Health Week 2023 will see more than 60 events held across Queensland.

Many events will be free or subsidised (thanks to DVA grants) and hosted by RSL Queensland Sub Branches.

Here’s just a taste of what’s happening:

  • The Sunshine Coast Veterans’ Market (back for a second year)
  • Veterans’ health expos
  • Social sports like barefoot bowls, golf, yoga, and group exercise
  • Painting and model-making classes
  • Morning tea, high tea, and barbecue lunch catch-ups
  • Presentations by mental health professionals
  • Family pizza and games nights
  • Local outings (including farm tours and beach trips)
  • A guided singalong
  • Wellness challenges

With something for everyone, Veterans’ Health Week is the perfect opportunity for veterans and their families to socialise, have fun, explore their local community, and learn more about boosting their mental health.
