Rec Connect - Glass Fusing Workshop

RSL Rec Connect helps veterans and their families connect through a diverse calendar of recreational events. RSL Rec Connect events are held throughout the year in various locations across Queensland. Veterans, current serving Defence members, and their partners are welcome to attend this event. 

In this Fun filled 2-hour workshop you will be expertly guided through the process of glass design, placement, layout and layering. You will learn skills such as glass cutting, breaking, nipping and bending using safe practices. Throughout the course you will be introduced to how glass behaves when heated in a kiln. 

You will have the freedom to use your imagination to design your very own unique Suncatcher or Tea Light. Following the workshop, your piece will go into the kiln overnight and will be ready for collection in the weeks following. 

Event Highlights: 

• Experienced instructor: Guided by expert Hot Glass Artist Kaylene, who has worked with glass for over 20 years.  
• All materials provided: Glass Caviar, Stringers and Glass Frit are a few of the bright coloured glass materials you can use to create your unique piece.   
• 2 Hour Workshop: This event offers two workshop times, please express interest in 1 session only.  

Requirements:

• This activity is open to ADF Veterans, current serving Defence members, their partners. 
• Enclosed shoes must be worn.  
• Please note the workshop can get quite warm during the session, dress comfortably for the weather and workshop. Aprons will be provided.  

 
Please note that prior to the event, you will be required to complete an RSL QLD waiver. All attendees will be unable to participate without completing the waiver.  

Due to the popularity of the program, expression of interests will be taken, and you will be notified if you have been allocated a ticket. Priority will be given to local attendees who have not attended events previously.
