DRA Gold Coast Volunteering

Disaster Relief Australia is now seeking EOIs from community members to volunteer and assist communities get back on their feet after the severe storms in South-East Queensland. 

On 25 December 2023, a super-cell storm with cyclonic winds, lightning strikes and heavy rain crossed the Southeast Queensland Region, in vicinity of the Gold Coast Local Government Area. The storm caused significant damage in the region with a substantial amount of fallen trees and power lines, houses destroyed, roofs torn off buildings, roads blocked and minor flooding. 

Disaster Relief Australia volunteers arrived in the area on 2 January 2024 to work within the impacted Logan City, Scenic Rim and City of Gold Coast Local Government Areas. 

Disaster Relief Australia is now putting the call out for motivated community members who want to volunteer as part of the Recovery Crew to assist Disaster Relief Australia with clean-up operations.

Volunteering details:
Dates: 20 January 2024 and/or 21 January 2024
Location: Gold Coast City (exact location TBC)
Tasks: General clean-up of properties and removal of debris. Please also note the following requirements:

•    Working for up to 5 hours at a time

•    Physical tasks including bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive arm movement

•    Standing for long periods

•    Working in hot and humid conditions

Spaces are limited to 30. If you are interested, please complete all registration details by 18 January 2024. Further dates may become available if DRA extend their operation
