Dance For Veterans

An eight-week program designed to introduce the power of dance and movement in facilitating improved health and wellbeing.

Facilitated by Queensland Ballet’s Van Norton Li Community Health Institute, the Dance for Veterans program aims to enhance quality of life for veterans experiencing PTSD or other trauma-related psychological injury.

Through progressive instruction in dance manoeuvres, together with facilitated social connection, participants are supported to improve their psychological, physical, social and environmental health. The instruction program references historical connections between military movement and dance development, facilitating personal expression and confidence-building.

The program is delivered over eight weeks, with one session per week for four weeks followed by two sessions per week for the final four weeks. Sessions are held at the Queensland Ballet studios in Brisbane and facilitated by experienced dance teaching artists.

Each session includes morning tea.
