Active Lifestyles – Abseiling & Kayaking Kangaroo Point

RSL Queensland has selected Active Lifestyles events throughout Queensland to provide opportunities for veterans, current serving Defence members, their partners, and children to take part in activities while connecting with fellow members of the Defence family. 

Choose between either an Abseiling adventure down the Kangaroo Point Cliffs or a guided Kayaking tour along the Brisbane River.  

Please be aware that each person registered will be eligible to participate in one (1) activity. Both activities will be operating at the same time.  

Abseiling 

Experienced instructors will help you navigate the 20m high cliffs of Kangaroo Point. While abseiling you can enjoy the picturesque views of the Brisbane River.  

• This activity is available to Veterans, current serving Defence members, their partners, and children (ages 8+) 
• Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.  

What to bring  

• Activewear or clothes you can exercise in (no dresses or skirts)  
• Enclosed Shoes  
• Hat 
• Water bottle  

Kayaking 
Enjoy a leisurely guided kayaking tour along the Brisbane River, you may even venture to the Story Bridge.  

• This activity is available to Veterans, current serving Defence members, their partners, and children (ages 8+)  
• Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.  
  
  

What to bring  

• Activewear or clothes you can exercise in (something that you don’t mind getting wet)  
• Hat  
• Water bottle  
  
  

No experience is necessary for either activity and each session includes full instruction, a safety briefing and equipment.  

Following the abseiling and kayaking activities all participants can stay to enjoy a BBQ style lunch.

Please note that prior to the event, you will be required to complete 2 waivers, one from RSL QLD and one from the activity provider. This will be emailed to you after registration. All attendees will be unable to participate without completing both waivers.
