Statement from RSL Queensland
27 September 2021- Media release
RSL Queensland has announced the appointment of Robert Skoda to interim CEO, following the resignation of Melanie Wilson. The appointment will ensure that RSL Queensland continues to deliver on our core purpose to build a bright future and enduring legacy for all veterans and their families.
Robert has been with RSL Queensland since 2016 and he has demonstrated commitment to the Defence family by growing and enhancing RSL Queensland’s services, most recently in the role of General Manager, Veteran Affairs and Policy. He understands firsthand the needs of veterans and their families, having been deployed across Afghanistan, the Middle East and Timor Leste during his time in the Royal Australian Air Force.
Following Robert’s appointment, RSL Queensland has also announced the appointment of Troy Watson to General Manager, Veteran Affairs and Policy. Troy is a Royal Australian Navy veteran with operational experience across the Middle East and is formerly the CEO of Mates4Mates, a subsidiary of RSL Queensland. He has an outstanding track record in substantially expanding the support provided to veterans impacted by service during his time at Mates4Mates and we are pleased that he will work even more closely with RSL Queensland.
With 230 Sub Branches across 10 districts, RSL Queensland is the largest ex-service organisation in Queensland, providing practical support, assistance, advice and camaraderie to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families across the state.
