Ahead of ANZAC Day, RSL Queensland and the Australian Army have teamed up in support of Run Army on Sunday 23 April, an annual event dedicated to supporting current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and raising much needed funds for Legacy.

This year, RSL Queensland is proudly subsidising the cost of registration for all current serving Army participants to support their proactive health and wellbeing.

RSL Queensland CEO Robert Skoda said the partnership with Run Army aimed to promote the importance of physical and metal wellness to the veteran community and broader public.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the community together for the highly anticipated Run Army event and unite for a meaningful cause,” Mr Skoda said.

“Ultimately, this partnership is about showing we care, propelling that sense of mateship for current and former ADF members and their families.

“We’re here for ADF members and their families from the first day of their Defence journey  – from the point of enlistment all the way through to their transition from the ADF and life after service.”

The intergenerational event will see thousands of Queenslanders – of all ages and running abilities – wind their way around the city streets and Brisbane River for the five or 10-kilometre challenge.

Alternatively, those living outside of Brisbane are encouraged to round up their mates, family members and neighbours to join virtually from anywhere in Australia.

“It’s also exciting to see our staff getting involved across Queensland and signing up to take part in a little healthy competition – it’s safe to say many of us are dusting off our running shoes and preparing to get out there and give it our best for a good cause,” Mr Skoda said.

“We’re looking forward to coming together as a community, with current and ex-serving defence members, all in support of Legacy.”
