RSL Queensland State President Major General Stephen Day DSC AM was joined by Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, and her husband, Professor Graeme Nimmo, at Government House to sign a message of condolence for Queen Elizabeth II on the eve of the nation’s Day of Mourning for The Queen.

“The Queen’s passing has left a sense of loss and mourning among our members and within the veteran community and so, on their behalf, I wanted to come here today and leave a signed message of everlasting respect for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” MAJGEN Day said.

“As RSL Patron, the Queen held a special place in our hearts, and we are sincere in wanting to express our deepest gratitude for her 70 years of service and resolute commitment and understanding she had for all ex-service personnel.”

Since The Queen’s passing, more than 5,000 Queenslanders have travelled to Government House to pay their respects and leave messages of sympathy for the Royal Family in a condolence book.

Our members and the veteran community have valued her association and patronage of the League. For those wishing to leave a message of Condolence, but unable to travel to Government House, you can sign the book online here.
