Have your say on future consultation

Veterans and their families are being invited to share their views on how the ex-service community will be consulted and engaged with by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) in future.

RSL Queensland General Manager Veteran Services Rob Skoda said this was a valuable opportunity for veterans to ensure the DVA takes their views into account when formulating policy and service delivery.

“Ex-service organisations play a major role in understanding, advocating and providing for the interests of veterans, positioning us well to help government understand and address their needs.

“It’s therefore important that the National Consultation Framework comprises the bodies that can provide this valuable insight.”

He said RSL Queensland looked forward to playing a more significant role in the consultation process, relaying insights gained through research and our long experience of supporting Queensland veterans.

“As the major veteran organisation helping improve veterans’ quality of life in our state, we welcome the opportunity to participate more actively in future consultation,” Mr Skoda said.

“This would enable us to work towards developing a model through which we can more thoroughly canvass the views of our members, and ensure their voice is heard and their needs are met at a national level.”
