Ex-Defence Start Up Grants

Did you hone a specialist skill or develop an area or expertise in Defence, that now as you transition out, has sparked a new business idea?

If you are thinking of starting a business, our Veteran Enterprise Start Up Grants can provide financial assistance. We know the investment needed to build a website, engage business advisors or purchase start up equipment can be a major roadblock to success.

These grans are designed to support you through the start-up phase of your business, giving you the best chance of experiencing the sense of independence and flexibility self-employment can create.

Start Up Grants of up to $10,000 are available to support veterans with businesses in early stages of development and which has either not commenced trading or has been trading for less than two years.

Grant recipients will be able to utilise the funding for the following purposes:

  • Digital software - e.g. sales platforms, accounting software
  • Business services provided by a qualified service provider - e.g legal services, financial consultation, advertising and marketing expenses, business insurance
  • Industry-related capital items required for business operations (capped at 50% of grant funding)

To apply for an RSL Queensland Veteran Enterprise Start Up Grant you must be an ex-ADF member who served three of more years of or operational deployment and:

  • Completed a self-enterprise or industry related education program or demonstrate relevant business experience via the application
  • Queensland resident
  • Demonstrate personal hardship related to service in Defence or post-Defence
  • Demonstrate sound business model and clear use of funds in live with approved purpose outline inĀ What is AvailableĀ above
