Mental Health Services

Many current and former ADF personnel struggle to adjust after deployment or while transitioning, and may experience mental illness – such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress – as a result.

Different people experience different mental health symptoms, but these may include:

  • trouble sleeping
  • feeling down
  • lacking interest in things you usually enjoy
  • feeling extremely anxious or panicked
  • recurring memories or flashbacks
  • anger.

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, it's important to reach out for support. It can help to talk with a psychologist, counsellor or a social worker who can offer a range of evidence-based therapies to help address underlying issues.

The Mates4Mates psychology team is highly qualified and experienced in working with current and ex-Defence personnel, their partners and their families.

Telehealth services are also available.
