    Notice of nominations

Following the call for nominations in January 2026 for two Board Director positions – the Deputy President role and a Skills-based Director, we can advise that we have received numerous nominations for each position.

An election for both positions will be held at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 20 June 2026 where Delegates will be required to vote for their Sub Branch or District’s preferred candidate for each role.

As there are a number of nominations for each role, please see important information below about preparing for the vote.

Please click below to view the application and nomination form for each nominee for the Deputy President and Skills-based Director positions.

    Voting preparation

Each Director position will have its own separate ballot, with Delegates entitled to cast one vote for one candidate in each ballot.

In the event that a vote results in a tie, a further ballot must be conducted between the tied candidates only.

Where a nominee is elected to more than one position, they may only accept one role, and a further ballot will be held to fill the now vacant role.

Sub Branches and Districts should be aware that additional ballots may be required and should ensure their Delegate has clear instructions on how to vote if this occurs.

Preparing for Board Director elections at the AGM

    • Each Director position is voted on separately

    • Delegates may vote for one candidate only in each election

    • Delegates vote on behalf of their Sub Branch or District, in accordance with instructions agreed before the AGM

In some cases, two or more candidates may receive the same number of votes. When this occurs, the Constitution requires that a further ballot is held between the tied candidates only.

Where a nominee is elected to more than one role, they may only accept one position, and a further ballot must be conducted to fill the now vacant role, in accordance with the Constitution and By‑Laws.

To assist Delegates to vote confidently if a further ballot is required, Sub Branches and Districts are encouraged to:

    • review the eligible nominees for both positions ahead of the AGM, and

    • ensure their Delegate has clear instructions on how to vote if a further ballot is required.

This helps ensure the AGM runs smoothly and that Delegates are prepared for all voting outcomes.

    Frequently asked questions

No. Voting at the AGM is conducted on a one vote per ballot basis. However, Sub Branches and Districts are encouraged, when determining their voting direction, to give consideration to the possibility of a further ballot, and ensure their Delegate is appropriately instructed should a subsequent ballot be required.

A further ballot occurs only if two or more candidates receive the same number of votes in a ballot. In that case, voting is limited to the tied candidates until a result is determined.

In addition, where a nominee is elected to more than one role, they may only accept one position, and a further ballot must be conducted to fill the now vacant role, in accordance with the Constitution and By‑Laws.

No. Each ballot remains a separate and valid vote. The process ensures clarity and continuity if multiple ballots are required.

Nominees may stand for more than one position where eligible. However, a nominee may only be elected to one role. If successful in an election, they may withdraw from any subsequent ballot – or if successful in both ballots the nominee will need to select their preferred position. This will then result in a subsequent ballot to fill the now vacant role.
