  • Magnetic Island ANZAC Day Dawn Service

Eternal Flame in ANZAC Square, Brisbane Qld.

    Join us to commemorate

At dawn on 25 April 1915, ANZAC troops landed at Gallipoli, starting a legacy that would live long after them.

The ANZAC Day Dawn Service echoes this moment, and the moment many a soldier has stood to arms.

Steeped in tradition, the Dawn Service is a poignant ceremony featuring the laying of wreaths, sounding of the Last Post and observance of a minute's silence.

Join the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in ARCADIA – hosted by Magnetic Island RSL Sub Branch – to honour all Australians and New Zealanders who have served or sacrificed in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations since World War I.

All participants assemble at the Cenotaph in picturesque Alma Bay Park at 06:10 hrs with our wonderfully supportive community.

It is a moving setting, and we conduct a somber and respectful service.

As the service progresses, the sun rises from behind distant Cape Cleveland and shines unimpeded into the treetops, waking the kookaburras and other birds, who often join in the singing by the State School choir.

Buses will cover the Island’s main routes on a run timed to get people to the Cenotaph in time.

At the conclusion of the service, everyone is most welcome to stroll the 300 metres down to the Memorial Hall for a choice of economical breakfasts, followed by Two-Up, for the punters.
