At dawn on 25 April 1915, ANZAC troops landed at Gallipoli, starting a legacy that would live long after them. 

The ANZAC Day Dawn Service echoes this moment, and the moment many a soldier has stood to arms. 

Steeped in tradition, the Dawn Service is a poignant ceremony featuring the laying of wreaths, sounding of the Last Post and observance of a minute's silence.

Join the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Cairns – hosted by Cairns RSL Sub Branch – to honour all Australians and New Zealanders who have served or sacrificed in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations since World War I.

The Cairns RSL Sub Branch warmly invites you to attend the 2026 ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Cairns Cenotaph, a time for reflection, remembrance, and respect.

Theme: Women in Service
This year, we pay special tribute to the invaluable contributions, courage, and dedication of women who have served—past and present. We also recognise the vital role they continue to play in shaping our Defence Force and veteran community.

A Significant Year for Cairns
The 2026 service holds special meaning as we commemorate 150 years of Cairns and 100 years of the Cairns Cenotaph, important milestones that deepen our shared history and connection to this sacred place of remembrance.
