The Gold Coast SUNS have revealed the club’s 2024 ANZAC guernsey to be worn in the Round 7 ANZAC Round match against West Coast at People First Stadium.
In collaboration with RSL Queensland, the SUNS will help acknowledge the contributions of more than 1.5 million Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and their contribution to our way of life.
Featured on the SUNS guernsey is a silhouette of ANZAC soldiers walking at sunrise along with the 2024 ANZAC badge and the words “Lest we Forget” on the back of the guernsey.
Yellow wattle found in the Gold Coast and south east Queensland region also adorns the side panels of the guernsey, representing the wattle which was posted to soldiers on the front lines by their families back home.

A sprig of rosemary is also featured closest to the heart, to signify the remembrance of the lives lost in conflict and to also represent the wild rosemary which grows in abundance on the Gallipoli peninsula.
Gold Coast SUNS co-captain Touk Miller said the players were always proud to represent the club in ANZAC Round.
“ANZAC Day is a big day in our country and is a really important day to remember and reflect,” Miller said.
“To play in something that is really meaningful like ANZAC Round is really important for us as players – it’s an opportunity to pay your respects to people that served for this country.
“The SUNS are a pillar in the community so it’s really important for us to offer an opportunity for everyone to come together and show our commitment to the people who have served for us.”
RSL Queensland State President Major General Stephen Day DSC AM encouraged all Queenslanders to attend their local service on ANZAC Day and show their support at the SUNS’ ANZAC match.
“The community is encouraged to come together across generations to commemorate this ANZAC Day,” Major General Day said.
“Whether that is attending a local dawn service or gathering a group of friends or family to watch the football and having a quiet moment of reflection during the pre-game service – it’s important that we remember the service and sacrifice of the ANZACs and how their service has contributed to our way of life today.
“While the team will be playing after ANZAC Day, I have no doubt that this game will resonate strongly with the veteran community, who can take pride in knowing their sacrifices continue to be acknowledged on a national stage, by one of the state’s most recognisable sporting teams.”
“We are proud to again partner with the Gold Coast SUNS, and to see the team embrace the ANZAC spirit by proudly donning a special guernsey for the ANZAC Round to show their support for the veteran community. This guernsey is symbolic of the sacrifices made by current and ex-serving Defence members.”
The 2024 ANZAC guernsey will be available for purchase via the SUNS Shop both online and on gameday.

The ANZAC Round match against West Coast will be played at People First Stadium, with first bounce at 1:00pm on Sunday April 28.
