    • The RSL Career Development Program Terms and Conditions outline the specific rules, terms and conditions of the RSL Career Development Program. These are in addition to the terms specified in the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement.

      The RSL Career Development Program is a partnership between you and RSL Queensland as a successful experience in the Program requires a commitment from both parties.

      If we notify you of these terms, your participation in the Program constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

      Career Development Program overview:
      The RSL Career Development Program provides personalised study and career guidance to create a sustainable career plan aligned with client skills, experience and passions. Depending on client needs, clients may also be connected to vocational industry providers, overseen by RSL Queensland.

      RSL Queensland acknowledges there may also be a requirement to provide a referral for potential participation in either the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) work rehabilitation programs or additional clinical support through Open Arms, whilst you are accessing the RSL Career Development Program. 

      1. Eligibility:

      Current and ex-serving Defence members 
      To be eligible, you must:

      • be an Australian resident;
      • be either an ex-serving member of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) not in regular/sustainable employment OR a current ADF member with a confirmed discharge date no later than four (4) months in the future; and
      • not currently be eligible for, or require support from any DVA Rehabilitation Program.  

      Defence partners 
      To be eligible, you must:

      • be an Australian resident;
      • not be in regular/sustainable employment; and
      • be married or the de facto partner of a current or ex-serving ADF member.

      Extenuating circumstances may be considered in RSL Queensland’s absolute discretion.

      The RSL Career Development Program is a multi-faceted program with various vocational services created to suit various levels of need. The determination of level of service engagement is reasonably determined by RSL Queensland based on its resources and its understanding of your needs. Provided RSL Queensland acts reasonably, you acknowledge that you have no right to challenge any decision as to whether you can engage in any part of the RSL Career Development Program.

      2  Our obligations to you:

      We will:

      • support you within the Program’s service level framework and respond to you in a timely manner;
      • ascertain your needs and may either refer you to other services or develop a tailored pathway; and
      • be there to help and listen to your career, education and training goals.

      3. Your obligations:

      You: 

      • will actively participate in the Program, respond in a timely manner to the RSL Queensland staff member and complete any activities to the best of your ability and in a timely manner;
      • declare that any information submitted during the RSL Career Development Program is true and complete in all respects;
      • will complete and return all relevant documentation required to engage in the Program;
      • will stay in contact with us and advise of any changes to your personal situation as they relate to your eligibility for the Program;
      • will take responsibility for yourself and the results of any decisions you make; 
      • take responsibility to confirm with DVA, COMSUPER or any other relevant government agency whether any of your DVA, COMPSUPER or other entitlements will be affected by receiving education or training benefits or future employment. RSL Queensland accepts no responsibility if a client's DVA, COMSUPER of other entitlements are affected;
      • will notify RSL Queensland if your personal circumstances change e.g. phone number, email address, residential address;
      • agree to be contacted by RSL Queensland to complete surveys and feedback to improve program delivery;
      • agree to be contacted both during and post Program about RSL Queensland programs and to be invited to connect with fellow scholars and alumni from the Program; and
      • agree to be referred to other RSL Queensland services based on your identified needs.

      Costs, charges and service termination:

      • RSL Queensland does not charge a fee for the RSL Career Development Program. If it is identified that education and training is recommended, it is your responsibility to cover such costs. Even if further education training is recommended, you are under no obligation to undertake the education and training;
      • You may cease using the Program or any of RSL Queensland services at any time and for any reason by giving us written notice;
      • We may cease providing you with services under this Program if you do not comply with these Terms and Conditions or the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement; and
      • RSL Queensland will not accept any responsibility for any liability arising from your failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions or the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement.

      Confidentiality and personal information

      You acknowledge that RSL Queensland will collect personal information from you for the purpose of providing assistance and support during your participation in the RSL Career Development Program. This information is required for your participation in the Program. This may include personal information necessary to prepare, review and reformat your Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) and any information required by potential employers, or for agreed referrals to government agencies such as DVA and Open Arms. 

      RSL Queensland may also disclose your personal information with third party parties engaged to support the delivery of services under the RSL Career Development Program.  This includes potential employers, third party service providers (providing employment, training, skills and education related services) and online platforms such as Resume and CV formatting and content improvement providers, employment platforms and other online services to introduce you to potential employers for the purpose of securing employment or to develop your skills to become employment ready.  Some of these third party service providers and online platforms may use software that has artificial intelligence (AI) functionality. RSL Queensland will only use or disclose your personal information in accordance with these terms and conditions, its Privacy Policy, Collections Notice and the Client Services Agreement.
