Today marks the launch of our brand refresh – a new look and feel for RSL Queensland that embodies the essence of what we do.

Elsewhere on this blog you can view our new brand video, and I challenge you to watch it without a tear coming to your eye. The video will be broadcast across Queensland in coming weeks and I hope you will watch it with pride.

Events around the state

The past two weeks have been full of significant events around the state. On Valentine’s Day, I had the great pleasure of attending the dedication of the National Servicemen’s Association Memorial at their compound at Wacol.  It was an excellent event, with the Governor of Queensland the Honourable Paul De Jersey AC present for the official dedication.

On 25 February, Leane and I attended 72nd Annual Reunion of the Caloundra Women’s Auxiliary which was, as always, a fantastic gathering with great food and great company.

The following Friday, we were privileged to attend the Army birthday celebrations at Enoggera. RSL Queensland was one of the few ESOs invited to this event, and it was great to hear the positive feedback from serving soldiers on the changing image of the RSL.

AGMs

In past weeks, I have attended AGMs at the Wide Bay and Burnett, Western and South Eastern Districts, and at the Laidley and Caloundra Sub Branches. I’ve been pleased to see the great turnout at all these AGMs, and listen to our members engaged in lively discussion around the League and its future.

Final draft Constitution now online

The Constitution Working Party has been working hard to review your valuable feedback and finalise the draft Constitution, which you can view here. There is also a useful FAQ document that answers any questions you may have.

A request

Finally, friends, I would like to raise a worrying issue. In recent weeks, I have been made aware of comments being made by members that are simply not true. Spreading rumours and misinformation damages our great organisation and undermines the great work being done by the majority of our members and staff throughout the state.

If you have heard something that concerns you, I encourage you to contact RSL Queensland – just look at the Contact Us tab on our website – and you will be put through to someone who can give you the correct information.

Take care,
Tony
