MUDJIMBA COMMEMORATION PROGRAM

The Sub Branch has introduced a cenotaph commemoration program to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of veterans who served.

April and November already have commemorations of ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day; this monthly program started in February and will cover the other months of the year.

Each month there will be a simple commemoration at the cenotaph where Sub Branch members will mention the significance of a specific occasion of remembrance, lay a wreath in honour of veterans service on that occasion, recite the Ode, followed by Last Post, and the national anthem.

  • 14 May - Anniversary of the sinking of Hospital Ship Centaur by a Japanese submarine off the Sunshine Coast in 1943.
  • 10 June - Commencement of the battle of Shah Wali Kot commenced in Afghanistan in 2010.
  • 27 July - Korean War Veterans’ Day. This commemorates the date the Armistice was signed to end the war in 1953.
  • 31 August - Malaya and Borneo Veterans’ Day. This date is recognised as the date to commemorate the service of veterans who served in conflicts in Malaya/Malaysia and Borneo between 1953 and 1964.

Members of the public are welcome to join.
