EDUCATION AND SKILLS PROGRAM TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Education and Skills Program Terms and Conditions outlines the specific rules, terms and conditions of the Education and Skills Program. These are in addition to the terms specified in the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement.

The Education and Skills program is a partnership between you and RSL Queensland. To assist a successful experience in the program, the service requires a commitment from both parties.

If we notify you of these terms, your participation in the service constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Education and Skills program strives to support clients to discover, align, prepare for and undertake education to increase their capability and skills to ultimately enable them to engage in sustainable and meaningful employment. Depending on client needs, clients may also be connected to vocational industry providers, overseen by RSL Queensland.

Furthermore, RSL Queensland acknowledges there may be a requirement to provide a referral for potential participation in either Department of Veterans’ Affairs work rehabilitation programs or additional clinical support through Open Arms, whilst you are accessing the Education and Skills Program. 
 

1  ELIGIBILITY:

Current serving Defence members 
A current full-time serving member of the regular ADF must:
› have Australian residence status 
› have a confirmed discharge date no later than four (4) months in the future 
› be aware of Defence Force Transition Program (DFTP) entitlements 
› not be currently in a Defence/DVA Work Rehabilitation Program that offers vocational components 
 
Ex-serving Defence members
An ex-serving member of the regular ADF must: 
› have Australian residence status 
› have served at least one day continuous full time service (CFTS) 
› not be currently in or eligible for the DVA Work Rehabilitation Program or Veterans’ Vocational Rehabilitation Scheme (VVRS) that offers vocational components
 
Defence partners 
A veteran’s partner must:
› have Australian residence status 
› be married or the de facto partner of a current or ex-serving ADF member who has served at least one day of continuous full time service (CFTS)

Extenuating circumstances will be considered in RSL Queensland’s absolute discretion.

The Education and Skills Program is a multi-faceted program with various vocational services created to suit various levels of need. The determination of level of service engagement is reasonably determined by RSL Queensland based on its resources and its understanding of your needs. Provided RSL Queensland acts reasonably, you acknowledge that you have no right to challenge any decision as to whether you are able to engage in any part of the RSL Education and Skills Program.

2  OUR OBLIGATIONS TO YOU:

We will:

  • support you within the program’s service level framework and respond to you in a timely manner;
  • ascertain your needs either refer you to other services or develop a tailored pathway;
  • be there to help and listen to your education and training goals.

 

3  YOUR OBLIGATIONS:

You: 

  • will actively participate in the program, respond in a timely manner to the RSL Queensland staff member and complete any activities to the best of your ability and in a timely manner;
  • declare that any information submitted during the Education and Skills Program is true and complete in all respects;
  • will complete and return all relevant documentation required to engage in the program;
  • will stay in contact with us and advise of any changes to your personal situation as they relate to your eligibility for the program;
  • will take responsibility for yourself and the results of any decisions you make; 
  • take responsibility to confirm with the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), COMSUPER or any other relevant agency whether any of your DVA, COMPSUPER or other entitlements will be affected by receiving education or training benefits or future employment. RSL Queensland accepts no responsibility if a client's DVA, COMSUPER of other entitlements are affected;
  • will notify RSL Queensland if your personal circumstances change e.g. phone number, email address, residential address;
  • agree to be contacted by RSL Queensland to complete surveys and feedback to improve program delivery;
  • agree to be contacted both during and post program about RSL Queensland programs and to be invited to connect with fellow scholars and alumni from the program; and
  • agree to be referred to other RSL Queensland services based on your identified needs.

 

COSTS, CHARGES AND SERVICE TERMINATION:

  • RSL Queensland does not charge a fee for the Education and Skills Program. If it is identified that education and training is recommended, it is your responsibility to cover such costs. Even if further education training is recommended, you are under no obligation to undertake the education and training;
  • You may cease using this service or any of RSL Queensland services at any time and for any reason by giving us written notice;
  • We may cease providing you with this service if you do not comply to the Terms and Conditions of this service and/or the terms set out in the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement; and
  • RSL Queensland will not accept any responsibility for any liability arising from your failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions or the terms specified in the RSL Queensland Client Services Agreement.

 

CONFIDENTIALITY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

You acknowledge that RSL Queensland will be collecting personal information from you for the purposes of providing you with assistance and support. You must provide this information in order to participate in this program. RSL Queensland will disclose and exchange your personal information with relevant third parties who have been engaged by RSL Queensland to assist in providing you with support services. RSL Queensland will only use or disclose your personal information for the purpose for which you provided it to RSL Queensland unless RSL Queensland has your consent or is authorised by law, court order or the privacy policy adopted by RSL Queensland.
