Isis Sub Branch Inc.
Introduction
The Isis RSL Sub Branch offers a warm welcome to veterans in the local area, the local community and the travelling public. Our RSL offers a place for social interaction and a place of wellbeing. The Isis Sub Branch is part of the Wide Bay and Burnett District of RSL Queensland.
HISTORY
The Isis RSL Sub Branch Inc. was officially opened on 5 October 1946. The premises were originally occupied by the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney (1901-1943) before being operated as a Boarding House (1943-1946).
Honour Boards for the Isis District, Doolbi and Horton Schools and the CSR Childers Mill are now located in the Sub Branch. The building was heritage listed on 21 October 1992. Thanks to a Government Grant from Queensland Remembers, the building will soon be undergoing restoration work to return it to its former magnificence as a dominant feature of Churchill Street.
