Developing world first psychological assessment tools to create a brighter future for veterans In May 2021, GMRF in partnership with RSL Queensland, launched Go Beyond, an online learning tool that offers free, personalised short courses for veterans. Go Beyond is evidence- informed and based on a GMRF research project that studied the unique experiences of veterans through their transition to civilian life. The short courses include information, worksheets, and resources in the areas that are key to successful transition. Go Beyond continues to give veterans the real- world tools they need to create a brighter future after service. Understanding the physical and psychological impact of service For veterans with psychological and physical problems, appropriately prescribing medication can be challenging. In 2021, GMRF continued investigating the use of multiple medications (polypharmacy) in veterans, along with the unwanted side-effects and potential risks of polypharmacy. This research aims to raise awareness of this serious issue among veterans and their healthcare providers. It emphasises the need to improve communication between different prescribers for any veteran with multiple health conditions, and to optimise prescribing practices.
