25 SECTION DESCRIPTOR RSL Queensland Annual Report | 2021 l rt | 1 INFLUENCE • Continued to develop productive and trusted relationships with Defence, demonstrated through a Defence request to have RSL Queensland compensation advocates operating in a permanent capacity on multiple bases • Developed constructive relationships with the Oasis Centre (the DVA-appointed Wellbeing centre in North Queensland) and through formalised MOU’s delivered compensation services and the Homelessness Program to veterans supported through Oasis • Continued to build relationships with other RSL state bodies, demonstrated through an ongoing MOU with RSL Tasmania to support the delivery of employment and wellbeing services to veterans requiring assistance in Tasmania • Delivered the Veteran Services Toolkit to educate our members on the emergency and general services available to veterans via State Branch and other ex-service organisations (ESOs). SUSTAINABILITY • Grew our RSL Art Union by offering Australia’s largest ever prize home draw, valued at $10 million • Increased the RSL Art Union VIP Club member subscription program by 12.7 per cent • Undertook foundational planning in preparation to enable the organisation to be financially stable over the long term, by providing strong real returns and diversifying RSL Queensland’s risks. Looking Ahead A key focus area moving forward will be the New Ways of Working program, which will build our internal capabilities to deliver on our Strategy and establish a culture that we can all be proud of. The scope of this work will be finalised in 2022 to ensure we have an operating model that best utilises our resources and abilities to better serve veterans and their families. 2021 Progress continued 2021 PROGRESS / "This year, we took great strides to increase engagement with Sub Branches and Districts, and improve communication with members.
