Reserve Forces Day 2019
Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Outbreak of WWII
The 2019 Reserve Forces Day commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Second World War.
The contribution to the war effort by Australia despite its small size by population was considerable.
This occasion reflects that history and seeks to remind us all of the fine tradition that has developed as a consequence.
The parade and recognition service will begin with a flag raising and wreathlaying. This short ceremony conducted at the Cenotaph in front of the Council Chambers will be followed by the Country Women's Coffee Stall, followed by the parade assembly and March Off. The direction of the March is by way of Mackenzie Street, then into Coronation Park. Once assembled in front of the Percy Iszlaub rotunda, the Recognition Service will commence.
Finally at the conclusion of the Service, everyone is invited to retire to Wondai RSL Diggers Club for refreshments.
