Burrum District - Dawn Service

ANZAC Day

As the name suggests, the Dawn Service begins just before dawn, with the sun rising as it draws to a close. The timing is likely based on the fact that the ill-fated landing on the Gallipoli peninsula began at dawn. Steeped in tradition and protocol, the Dawn Service is particularly poignant, featuring the laying of wreaths, sounding of the Last Post and observance of a minute’s silence. The march will begin at the CWA Hall Howard at 4:00am, followed by a service at 4:20am, a graveside cemetery service at 5:00am and then a gunfire breakfast.
