District Presidents to provide the context of these discussions

These are notes from the Board meeting held 25 June 2018 and are not to be taken as the formal minutes of the meeting.

  • The Director Register of Interests will be uploaded to the RSL Queensland website once it is updated.
  • The new State President, Tony Ferris, has resigned from his position as District President, Sunshine Coast and Regional (SCR) and from his Sub-Committee roles on the ANZAC and RSL Queensland Centenary Commemoration Committee (ARQCCC) and Constitution and Awards Committee (C&A). The former Deputy President - SCR, Mr Ian Hall, will move into the District President role and undertake the Board induction process. Don Davey was voted Chair of the C&A Committee.
  • State Branch is holding a town hall meeting for staff on 18 July 2018. Board members will attend to introduce themselves prior to the training commencing.
  • The Board will consider separating the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and State Congress to allow AGM business to be conducted first, followed by the State Congress. The cost of holding the 2018 AGM/State Congress in Cairns was greater than desirable. To minimise costs in coming years, the 2019 and 2020 AGMs/State Congresses will be held in Brisbane.
  • The Board approved RSL Queensland’s Strategic Plan 2018-2023.
  • The Board approved a name change from the National Servicemen’s Combined Central Sub Branch to the Rockhampton Combined Services Sub Branch Inc.
  • The CEO provided an update on the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), noting RSL Queensland was on track with its governance plan and the ACNC has been updated with the outcomes of the 2018 AGM. The State President will meet with the ACNC Commissioner within the next three weeks.
  • Applications for ARQCCC funding greater than $20,000 must be with the Committee Secretary no later than 31 August 2018. Applications for funding up to $20,000 must be with the Committee Secretary no later than 30 September 2018.
  • From the State Secretary’s report:
    • The Operations team is researching different membership cost models.
    • A business case is underway for an online portal to provide a single source of information for Districts and Sub Branches.
  • Management is to provide a timeline for the re-drafting of the State Constitution by Friday 29 June 2018. The process will include gathering feedback from Sub Branches by a date in August and a decision via postal ballot prior to the end of 2018.
