Mateship, putting others before yourself, and rigid structure, are an integral part of military life. When you are separated from your unit due to illness or injury, or leave the forces all together, you can suffer a sense of loss. If your persona is built around being physically capable and emotionally strong, it can be difficult to admit the need for help or to know where to go.
The RSL brings together people who understand your service experience and the meaning of mateship in a way that civilians do not. Our members are there for each other and provide a helping hand when needed. When you join an RSL Sub Branch, you can get involved in activities such as:

- Encouraging those who are struggling with civilian life to take the next positive step
- Connecting with lonely or ill veterans
- Assisting the needy or disadvantaged in your community
- Engaging with local school and community groups to keep the memory of those who have served alive.
